What are royalty splits?

Now SoundOn can support sharing royalties with anyone from the inviter's country of legal residence, such as artists, feature artists, producers, or even other labels, etc.
We will automatically split earnings between the inviter and collaborators without taking any extra service fee.

Who can be invited to split the royalties?

The system currently supports royalty splits only if the collaborator is from the same country of legal residence or certain specific regions.
  • If you are located in the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada, you can invite collaborators from the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada.
  • If you are located in any other SoundOn region, you can invite collaborators from any SoundOn region except for the United States, Puerto Rico, or Canada.
We will ask collaborators to bind invitations with their SoundOn account. If they do not have one, they will need to create a SoundOn account first.

How to create a split?

There are 2 ways to access the Create Royalty Splits page.
  1. After you upload a release, you can click the 'Create Splits Now' button on the release success page
  2. click 'Distribution' tab and select the 'Royalty Splits' page, then click 'Create Splits' button. You can also check all the royalty splits you have created or accepted on that page
Just create a split and add your collaborators to it. Once all of them accept the offers, we'll send the following month's payment to their SoundOn account on the next payment day.

When will the collaborators receive the email invitation?

After the release gets approved by us, collaborators will get an email with the invite code to the email address you added with invitation code and instructions.
Keep in mind that the invitation email is only valid within 90 days. You can click 'invite again' on the split page to send the invitation email again if you want to invite this collaborator again.

When will the splits take effect?

Once all collaborators added on the track accepted the splits, the splits are accepted. Then the according percentage royalties generated from that track will be sent to their account on the next payment date.
Before that, the track's earnings will still be sent to the inviter's account. Please contact the inviter for royalties during that period.
So don't forget to remind your collaborators to check their emails and accept the splits!

Where can I check the detailed reporting?

You can download all data on the 'Analytics & Earnings' -> 'My Earnings'->'Monthly statements' page.
Only the inviter's report includes the payment that all collaborators get from the monthly earnings report.
Collaborators who get invited share a split, can only see their own earning report, they would not able to see other collaborators reporting.

How can I update the splits after submission?

As a split owner, you can add or remove collaborators and change split percentages anytime. Any change will create a new version of the split.
If you need to update existing royalty splits, navigate to the royalty split table list and click 'Edit Split' next to the track to make adjustments. After submission, your existing collaborators will be notified that you’ve proposed a new version to replace the previous one. If you've only updated the percentage and the collaborators had previously accepted the split, they won't need to accept the new version again.
The split will become active once all collaborators accept it. If it is still pending, the earnings of other collaborators will be sent to you.
The changes to the split affect future earnings only. No retroactive payments will be made.
Don’t worry about remembering all the details. You can check the 'Split history' tab by clicking the split record or 'View split history' button.
